A Poem to Mom in Heaven

Those we love don’t go away,
They walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard, they are always near.
People say there is always a reason,
They say that time will heal.
But neither time nor reason,
Will change the way I feel.
For those that don’t know the heartache
That lies behind my smile,
How many times I have broken down and cried,
I still look up to the sky and talk to you.
What wouldn’t I give to hear you talk back?
I miss your voice, I miss your laughter,
And your sense of making people laugh
With your unique personality.

I understand now. God saw you were getting tired,
And a cure was not meant to be.
So He put His arms around you,
And whispered to go with Him. With tearful eyes,
I watched you, and saw you pass away.
Although I loved you so deeply, I could not make you stay.
Your sensitive heart stopped beating, your hands rested.
Silence came across the room. It was God way to tell me that you
Were already gone. God broke my heart to prove me that He
Only took the best.

I learned that when someone you love dies,
You never quite getting over it.
You slowly learn how to go on without them,
But always keeping them tucked safely in your heart.

My mother, so wonderful to think of,
But so hard to be without.
Life is not the same without you.
